I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at Sabancı Business School, Sabancı University (since 2019). I am currently on sabbatical leave and visiting Stockholm Business School, Stockholm University. My work focuses on banking, financial stability, macrofinance, and corporate governance. From 2021 to 2025, I served as Director of the Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum (CGFT). Earlier, I worked at the World Bank as a Research Economist (2015–2019), where he led the Global Financial Developtment Report, and have held consultant roles with the World Bank, the EBRD, and the Inter-American Development Bank; my visiting appointments include BOFIT at the Bank of Finland (Summer 2022) and the Department of Finance at NYU Stern (2013). I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from Tilburg University.
